How to Watch IPTV on Xbox
For Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and Xbox One. No developer mode or sideloading needed.
The quick answer: Xbox cannot sideload Android IPTV apps like TiviMate, but you do not need to. Install MyIPTV Player from the Microsoft Store (free), add your provider’s M3U link as a remote channel list and your EPG link for the TV guide, and you are watching in about 10 minutes. VLC, also in the Microsoft Store, works as a backup for quick playback without a TV guide. Use the M3U method on Xbox; these apps do not accept an Xtream Codes login directly.
Which Xbox IPTV App Should You Use?
Both apps below are free in the Microsoft Store on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One. Menu names can change slightly between app versions.
| MyIPTV Player | VLC for Xbox | |
|---|---|---|
| Best for | Daily live TV with a channel list and TV guide | Quick test of a playlist or a single stream |
| M3U playlist | Yes (remote URL) | Yes (open network stream) |
| Xtream Codes login | No, use the M3U version of your login | No |
| TV guide (EPG) | Yes, with an XMLTV URL | No |
| Favorites and channel groups | Yes | Limited |
| Verdict | Recommended | Backup option |
If you have only an Xtream Codes login, ask your provider for the M3U link, or build it from the same details (see M3U vs Xtream Codes).
Set Up MyIPTV Player on Xbox
- Step 1 — Install the app. On the Xbox home screen open the Store, search for MyIPTV Player and select Get.
- Step 2 — Open Settings. Launch the app and open Settings.
- Step 3 — Add your playlist. Choose the option to add a new playlist and EPG source. Under the remote channel list, enter a name (for example "Marinios") and paste or type your M3U URL, then add it.
- Step 4 — Make it active. Back in Settings, select your new playlist as the channel playlist.
- Step 5 — Add the TV guide. If your provider gave you an EPG (XMLTV) link, add it as the EPG source and refresh. With Marinios IPTV, the EPG link is in your welcome message.
- Step 6 — Watch. Open Channels, pick a group and a channel. Add favorites to find them faster next time.
Tip: typing a long URL with a controller is slow. Plug a USB keyboard into the Xbox, or copy the link on a PC and use the Xbox app on your phone to send it as a message you can copy on the console.
Play a Playlist in VLC for Xbox
- Step 1 — Install VLC. Search the Store for VLC and install it.
- Step 2 — Open a network stream. In VLC, open the network/stream option and enter your M3U URL.
- Step 3 — Pick a channel. VLC loads the list; select a channel to play. There is no TV guide, so use it as a backup or to test your link.
Get the Best Picture on Xbox
- Use the Ethernet port. Every Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One has an Ethernet port. A cable gives the most stable 4K playback.
- Check your speed. Aim for at least 25 Mbps for HD and 50 Mbps for 4K. Run a test in Settings → General → Network settings → Test network speed.
- Close background games. Quit games running in Quick Resume if playback stutters, and restart the console after large updates.
