How to Set Up IPTV on Mac
Stream 24,000+ live channels on your MacBook, iMac, or Mac Mini — VLC, IINA, and IPTV Smarters for Mac all work great on macOS.
The quick answer: Open VLC, go to File > Open Network (Cmd+Shift+N), paste your M3U playlist URL, and press Open. VLC handles the rest. For a more polished experience, try IINA (macOS-native) or IPTV Smarters for Mac.
Marinios IPTV provides both M3U playlist URLs and Xtream Codes, so any method below works with your credentials.
What You Need
- A Mac computer running macOS 11 or newer (Big Sur or later).
- IPTV credentials — M3U URL or Xtream Codes from your provider (start with a free trial).
- VLC or IINA — both are free media players for macOS.
Method 1: Use VLC (Fastest Setup)

- Step 6 — Start streaming. Double-click any channel to watch. Use the fullscreen button (Cmd+F) for the best experience.
Method 2: Use IINA (Mac-Native Player)
- Step 1 — Download IINA from iina.io (free) or install via Homebrew:
brew install --cask iina. - Step 2 — Open IINA and go to File → Open URL.
- Step 3 — Paste your M3U URL and press Enter.
- Step 4 — Browse channels in the playlist sidebar and start watching.

Troubleshooting Mac IPTV
Common Mac IPTV issues and fixes:
- VLC won't open M3U URL: Ensure the URL starts with "http://" or "https://". Copy the entire URL without extra spaces. Check if the URL works in a browser first.
- Channels buffer or freeze: Use Ethernet instead of Wi-Fi, close bandwidth-heavy apps, and confirm 25+ Mbps. See the buffering guide.
- "Authorization failed" error: Double-check your credentials and subscription status. See error codes.
- VLC showing black screen: Go to VLC Preferences > Video > Output and change from "Automatic" to "OpenGL Video Output" or "Metal."
